How to give
Every gift goes to De La Salle High School. The one thing to remember: mark it for the Paul Levy ’99 Scholarship so it lands in the right fund.
Online, by card or bank account
- Open the De La Salle giving form. It is the school’s own page, run by DonorPerfect.
- Pick an amount, then choose a one-time gift or a monthly one.
- In the box that says “I would like to dedicate my gift to the following”, type Paul Levy ’99 Scholarship.
This is the step that matters. Without it the school cannot tell which fund your gift is for.

What your gift funds
One award a year to a rising De La Salle senior. The amount honors the year Paul’s class graduated.
The student who receives it:
- Lives Catholic values each day
- Has a robust interest in the sciences
- Has kept at least a 2.5 GPA through high school
De La Salle’s administration is working with Paul to finalize the details.
“Yes, that GPA may be lower than other awards require, but I had to work hard in school, and to some children a C may be their best. I would like this accolade to be available to not only the smartest students, but the hardest-working students.”
About Paul
Paul Levy graduated from De La Salle in 1999. School was never easy for him, but biology was different. A sophomore Biology class at De La Salle is where science took hold.
That same year he started volunteering at a veterinary clinic, planning to become an avian veterinarian. He spent 18 years in veterinary medicine before changing course to teach.
Since then he has taught General Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Human Anatomy and Physiology, including at St. Rosalie School in Harvey. In 2021 he was named a Teacher of the Week in the Baton Rouge area.
Paul is now being treated for metastatic uveal melanoma, a rare cancer that starts in the eye. He says his faith has grown through it, and that he is most thankful for his Catholic education and for the Christian Brothers who taught him.
“It is my hope that after I have left this world, my name lives on at the place that brought all of us together, De La Salle High School.”
“More importantly, I am hopeful that the recipient of this scholarship will possibly go on to find a cure for metastatic uveal melanoma.”
